1. 일반동사의 현재진행형

의미: ~하고 있는 중이다.

형태: 주어 + be동사 [am / are / is] + 동사-ing

대부분의 동사	동사 + ing	eat → eating
-e로 끝나는 동사	-e 빼고 + -ing	live → living
단모음 + 단자음	자음 + -ing	put → putting
-ie로 끝나는 동사	-ie를 y로 바꾸고 +ing	lie → lying

- John is taking a shower now.

- I am tying my shoelaces.

- They are playing basketball.

- She is singing a song at the moment.

2. 현재진행형의 부정문과 의문문

부정문: 주어 + be동사 [am / are / is] + not + 동사-ing

주어	현재진행형의 부정형
I	I am not eating.
He / She / It	He isn't eating.
You / We / They	You aren't eating.

의문문: be동사 [Am / Are / Is] + 주어 + 동사-ing

긍정대답: Yes, 주어 + am / are / is

부정대답: No, 주어 + am not / aren't / isn't

주어	현재진행형 의문문
I	Am I eating?
He / She / It	Is he eating?
You / We / They	Are you eating?

의미: ~하고 있는 중이다.

형태: 주어 + be동사 [was / were] + 동사-ing

주어	과거진행형태
I / He / She / It (단수)	was + 동사-ing
You / We / They (복수)	were + 동사-ing

- I was playing the guitar.

- Mia was tasting the soup her mother.

- Jack and Jill were sitting on the bench.

- They were standing here a few minutes ago.

4. 과거진행형의 부정문과 의문문

부정문: 주어 + be동사 [was / were] + not + 동사-ing

주어	과거진행형 부정형
I / He / She / It	I was not(=wasn't) eating.
You / We / They	You were not(=weren't) eating.

 

의문문: be동사[Was / Were] + 주어 + 동사-ing

긍정대답: Yes, 주어 + 동사 + was / were

부정대답: No, 주어 + wasn't / weren't

주어	과거진행형 의문문
I / He / She / It	Was I eating?
You / We / They	Were You eating?

- She wasn't planting flowers.

- I was not going to the dentist.

- They weren't going on the picnic.

- The dog was not barking.

- Were they going to the zoo?
